Under 8's (24-02-08)
Southwold U8's 7 Holt 6
Southwold U8's 6 Holt 3
The boys have shown again this week end that they can now play against some of the larger clubs with large squads and win.

First Game
This was another excellent team performance ,there tagging has become very consistent and right from the start we got at the very well drilled holt team, by constantly tagging and forcing holt back we turned the ball over on the six tag rule which was very pleasing to see.The first game was close with both teams tagging very well and showing good support play, but with true grit and determination the boys played for each and with the speed of Oliver Edward Sam and James they pulled the first Game win.

Second game
The second Game we got of to a bad start as the boys mind had switch off and we sat back and allowed Holt to move the ball around which did give us a few problems, but after our half time talk explaining that we moved to them a little quicker we could get ourselves back in the game, and that seam to work with Oliver Owen clearing up any mist tag's at the back, and the rest moving and getting amongst the Holt team we started turning the ball over and with some of Zac,s and Williams dancing runs the game then turned in our favour.

Well done

U10s v Holt (24.02.08)
Seagulls 8 - Holt 0
(Matt 1,Tom 2, Ben F 2, Jon 2, Felix 1)

Seagulls 5 - Holt 3
(Jon 2, Ben F 2, Tom 1)
I had two fears before the game on sunday. Firstly, that if our boys were beaten they may be demoralised for next Saturday's all important Leicester game. Secondly, from a personal point of view, that I would be as useful as a chocolate fireguard as I couldn't speak! I must be more positive. Crunching tackles were delivered from the outset on both sides (still too many cuddle tackles from Seagulls which may not work on saturday). Our forwards battled with theirs and, despite being larger, were up against a tactically better bunch. Our backs were looking to pass it around.

But most importantly the boys came out of the trap as never before - and certainly 100% better than in our last encounter.

Then before we knew it the game was rapidly becoming a routing. A routing against Holt. Have those demons finally gone? Of course one particular demon wasn't playing which I feel would have made a significant difference - but 8 tries? I don't think so.

In the first game Jon scored 2 typically determined tries and Felix scored from his scrum half position as our scrum struggled to win the game up front. No such problem in the backs where the now devastating backline combination - Ben F, Tom and Matt - scored 5 between them. And remember we have several good wingers who'll be eager to get in on the action.

The second game at half time was looking a completely different story as we were loosing 2 - 0. But then the spectators on both sides witnessed some of the best passages of open play at this level. Passing up and down the lines, forward running, strong defense - very encouraging for saturday. In particular some passing between Matthew and Ben.

Good luck boys, but if you play like you have just done against Holt then you better get the semi final and final dates booked in your diaries!.
