Southwold 3 Swaffam 15 (29-3-2008)
Swaffam have turned out to be Southwold's bogey side this season. This result gives Swaffam the double over Southwold, and puts promotion into perspective. Southwold must improve on this performance if they are to gain access to the league above.

Southwold started brightly with most of the territory and possession. A resolute Swaffam defence kept Southwold at bay as they ran out of ideas and invention.

As the game wore on Swaffam gained confidence. Firstly Swaffam stretched the Southwold defence to score in the corner. The Swaffam fullback scored the second try racing on to a bouncing ball from a long kick from the fly-half, after the Southwold defence misjudged the flight of the ball.

Southwold replied with a penalty from Hume, however, in the second half the Swaffam pack began to exert a stranglehold in the set pieces and used the rolling maul to good effect.

Southwold tried to breakout but a combination of defence and poor ball retention cost Southwold dear. Southwold then lost prop Simon Ward to injury to add to the forwards woes. The Southwold backrow fought gamely, unfortunately it was mostly a rearguard action.
