Southwold 47 Hadleigh 0 (2-2-2008)
Southwold returned to winning ways with a convincing away victory over a gritty but limited Hadleigh XV.

The first half was an error strewn affair; Southwold looked the more threatening side but could not provide the continuity to breakdown their opponents.

When the ball was moved to the open spaces Southwold emphasised their superior footballing skills and broke through the defences to score a try through Peter Holmes, cutting through the defence to score beneath the posts, and Duncan Hume converted.

The secong half saw a change in tempo as Southwold upped their workrate and looked to support the ball in open spaces. This coupled with the fact that Hadleigh had run out of steam after notching up a lot of defensive work led to Southwold breaking out at will and keeping the scoreboard busy.

Further scores were finished off by kevin Cayley, Peter Holmes ( for his second), Piers Currie, Gavin Starks and Duncan Hume. Hume converted all but one of the tries, somehow missing the conversion of Cayley's touchdown. Nicholsons Construction Man of the Match was flanker Nathan Hunt for his non-stop foraging and ball-carrying around the fringes which contributed to stifling Hadleigh's momentum and allowed Southwold to gain the upper hand. On Saturday Southwold travel to Lakenham & Hewitt for a 2.30 kick-off.
