Southwold 35 Felixstowe 3 (9-12-2007)
Southwold progressed, as expected, to the next round of the Suffolk Plate. The victory seems straightforward on paper, however, it was only in the last twenty minutes that Southwold began to dominate and pull clear of a plucky Felixstowe XV.

The elements played their part in scrappy match causing lots of unforced errors as the wind an rain lashed in making play difficult.

Southwold fielded a much changed side, taking the opportunity to blood some promising second XV talent.

Felistowe put pressure on the Southwold scrum and rucks disrupting opportunities for any flowing rugby. However it was Southwold who opened the scoring through a well taken try from Luke Seaman; Duncan Hume converted and then followed this with a well struck penalty in to the teeth of the storm.

Felixstowe fired themselves up in the second half and opened with a penalty. This seemed to galvinise Southwold who began to find the spaces and support runners as a tired Felistowe began missing tackles. In the last quarter Southwold pulled away with tries from Gavin Starks (2), Piers Currie, Peter, and the young Hooker Day Harvey.

This Saturday highflying Southwold travel to Ipswich YM for the last league game of 2007. Kick-off 2.15pm.
