Southwold 33 Ipswich YM 10 (10-11-2007)
The home team had St Felix School to thank for providing a venue for their lastest league success. The rugby clubs' temporary changing rooms were turned back due to high winds on the roads. However, Head, David Ward, stepped in emphasising the valuable relationship between school and community.

Southwold kept up the pressure on the teams above them with what was ultimately a comfortable win over Ipswich YM. Southwold are only two points off the top in what is going to be a tightly contested eastern Counties 2 league.

It was YM who got on the score board first with a early penalty for infringement in a ruck. Southwold responded, however, the greasy conditions accounted for breakdowns during promising movements. Although the Southwold pack struggled in the set pieces their mobility led to a try for the direct running Ben Copling who crashed through under the posts. Southwold added a brace of penalties but could not pull away due to a combination of errors and fierce defence from Ipswich YM.

In the second half the mobility and strength in depth of the bench of the Southwold team put the result beyond any doubt. The defensive efforts of the away team finally became too much and Southwold tore holes in the defence through the agile backrow and the backline, again well marshalled by the experience of Withey, Caley.

Quick rucking and a sharp inside pass from Withey led to Anthony loping in under the posts. The back three got in the act, Clack outpacing the cover into the corner and winger Currie utilising his ball control to touch down in the corner.

Duncan Hume again weighed in with a tally of conversions and punishing penalties to put Southwold in a comfortable position.
