Southwold travelled to Theford with a young but determined pack, however, their spirit did not stand up to the efficient line-outs and rolling mauls of the opposition. The scrum held up well to intense pressure. Southwold were living of scraps but did manage to produce dangerous broken play forays into the opposition half. When Thetford forced any set plays in the Southwold 22 the defence was always under pressure. Experience and sheer weight told up front and Southwold conceded four tries all sremming from driving mauls and work around the fringes. This year though Southwold do not let their heads go down. As the game became more disjointed Southwold posed more and more problems. This resulted in a brace of tries for Duncan Hume, their was not enough time on the clock for any further scores. Although Southwold finished on a positive note they must give the opposition less time and respect. On Saturday Southwold 1st XV play their last game out of the old clubhouse on the Common, so come and cheer the team on and have a few beers down memory lane after the match - Kick-off 3pm. |
