Southwold 64 Norwich Union 17 (29-09-2007)
Southwold gained sweet revenge for the previous seasons last minute defeat to Norwich Union.

In the first half Southwold constant threatened the break. Good support and handling leading to well-taken tries. However Southwold could not pull away, the tenacious Norwich Union relying with points as Southwold lost focus after scoring to let the opposition in.

At the break there was only one score between the two teams. The movement and pace of the Southwold backs and the rapid rucking from the forwards gradually wore the bigger Norwich Union forwards down. Therefore Southwold took advantage of the lack of shape and cohesion in the Norwich defence. Tearing holes through a tiring side.

In the last twenty minutes the Southwold forwards hit the breakdown hard giving the backs a good platform to go through their repotorie of moves leading on an avalanche of points as the game closed.

Try scorers - J Hall, C Withey, S Westlife all two. P Anthony, R Hume, D Keeble, K Cayley. D Hume added seven conversions.

Next week Southwold entertain Lakenham Hewitt on the Common.
