Swaffam nosed ahead in the first half with a brace of penalties. Swaffam's kicker was having a good day which made Southwold's repeated infringments costly in both score and field position. The forwards who did so well at North walsham on Wednesday failed to deal with the concerted and organised pressure from the opposition pack. This led to a torrid day for the scrum-half and made in difficult for the back-line to ignite. Fly-half Withey slotted a neat drop goal to keep sothwold in touch. There were some bright spots for Southwold. A blind side move involving the McDaniel and copling led to a well-taken try from Keable. However the general level of play was uninspiring and Southwold have a lot to work on if they are going to challenge for promotion this season. Sat 15th the 1ST team travel to Dereham. |
